Sample Society Box Subscription Review - August - October 2014 & Promo Code!

Alright, we got lots to cover, so lets get started! :)

The Details:
The Sample Society box is a monthly subscription from BeautyBar.com and Allure Magazine.

It's $15 a month and includes deluxe and full size samples, some of which are high end, and a $10 off $50 purchase from BeautyBar.com.

AUGUST 2014 BOX:
Alright, the spoiler that started it all:

Sephora offered the same Too Faced Melted Lipstick sample with a $25 purchase. I was tempted to start buying things just so I could get this sample but in the end, I decided to pass. Then I saw the August spoiler! The same Too Faced Sample and the Oribe Surfcomber, all for $15! Um...SOLD! :) So that's how this lovely relationship started! lol

It all came neatly packaged in a sturdy box (similar to the Glossyboxes) with a mini-magazine inside with information on the items in the box and why the Allure editors liked them.

AUGUST 2014

Kate Dilo Oil
Kate Somerville Dilo Oil - 3 ml
Oribe Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse
Oribe Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse - Purse Size (2.5oz) (Value $21.50)
With the Kate Somerville Dilo Oil, you mix a few drops into your moisturizer and apply. My skin felt so nice after using this, And surprisingly, this sample lasts a lot longer than I expected!

I was really looking forward to the Oribe Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse! I'm a fan of the tousled, beach wave look and the Surfcomber is supposed to do just that. Plus you can apply it to damp or DRY hair.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick
Too Faced Melted Liquefied Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Peony
Jane Iredale Mascara
Jane Iredale Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara in Black Ice -8g
I actually really liked this Too Faced Melted Lipstick color (Melted Peony) and the formula is nice. Its creamy and opaque. I found it slightly drying and not super long wearing on me, but I'm glad I was finally able to try it. And this little guy will actually last me awhile! :)

I like the small packaging and the tube instead of the standard mascara tube for the Jane Iredale. This would be great for traveling! However, I wasn't really a fan of the formula. My eyelashes are straight so I need something that will hold a curl and is waterproof.

Ciate Mini in Cha Cha Cha
Ciate Mini in Cha Cha Cha

The mini-mag suggested this color for a pedicure, but clearly I decided not to go that route and really liked the results. I typically avoid neons, but this color looked more like an orange-y red inside and outside it looked like a full on neon orange. And it totally wears like a gel! Love it! If all of the Ciate polishes are like this then I need more! ASAP! :)

SEPTEMBER 2014

Sept. Allure Box

LORAC POREfection Mattifying Face Primer – 10 ml?
This sample is pretty small (about the size of a pinky finger), but enough to get a few uses out of.

Alterna Caviar Repair RX Re-Texturizing Protein Cream 1.35 oz
I have a love/hate with hair products but this stuff smells lovely and so far I've gotten several uses out of it.

Tarte Brazilliance Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes (3)
So excited to get these! I've been wanting to try the Tarte self tanner products for awhile and my face and neck need it the most! :) It provides a natural looking tan but isn't super dark, I'd say a light to medium tan. And one towelette has enough product to use on your face, neck, and your chest.

Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream (Full Size! 15 ml – Value $85)
This is a full size product, but it's ridiculously small! Luckily you only need a small amount of product, so this little guy will seriously last a long time!

Givenchy Fragrance Dahlia Divine Fragrance Sample
I've been liking fragrance samples lately and this is a woodsy and sweet fragrance and the notes include: mirabelle plum, jasmine, sandalwood, vetyver, patchouli.

OCTOBER 2014

Oct. Allure Box

Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum – .24 oz: I haven't used this enough to see if it makes a difference, but I'm hoping it will. I went to Mexico for vacation last month and ended up coming home with a few freckles that weren't there before, so I'm hoping this serum will lighten them.

L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Restoring Shampoo and Conditioner – 1.7 oz each: These were just kinda "meh". They smelled really good and the shampoo lathered well, but I wasn't extremely impressed with it.

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara in Black – 3 ml: With my stick-straight lashes, I found that this mascara is best when I don't curl my lashes. When I curl them and apply this mascara, my lashes fall and re curling makes them look very unattractive. However, applying without curling, actually lifts my lashes. Not a full on curl, but noticeably lifts them. And the formula itself is very fantastic!

Bond. No. 9 High Line Perfume Sample: This was kind of a bust. The mini magazine showed 3 perfume samples and described each one, but no one received 3 samples, just the one. The High Line perfume has notes of: Bergamot, Purple Love Grass, Indian Rhubarb, Red Leaf Rose, Tulips, Grape Hyacinth and Bur Oak.

Emi Jay Hair Ties : I'm always losing my hair ties and these were just perfect! Great Fall/Winter colors and they don't leave creases!

There were a few busts with the October box: the fragrance samples, the drugstore shampoo and conditioner, and the size of the Estee Lauder serum. So for me, I loved the August box, September was good, and October was just okay. I received my shipping notification for my November box, so that will be up soon, however, full spoilers have been released and so far it looks kinda "eh" so far. We'll see how December goes and whether or not I'll continue to subscribe.
