Ipsy June 2014 Bag

It's official, Ipsy and I are back together. We all knew that break wouldn't last long. Ipsy sent me an email with NYX butter glosses, and I couldn't resist. $10 a month, for 4-5 products and a cute bag, yes please! So here's what I got:

JUNE'S THEME:
"Warm white sandy beaches or a cafe under a star filled night sky, being pretty in YOUR paradise is only a Glam Bag away.
We picked products that are excellent for an extravagant getaway or a quintessential kit for a quick trip for some peace and quiet. What paradise is on your bucket list?"

Lets start with the bag!
Every month the bag matches the theme but this month is even more special because Ipsy teamed up with Rebecca Minkoff to design the June bag. I think it's adorable.

NYX Butter Gloss:
I pretty much knew I was going to love this product even before I received it since I've heard so many good things about them. So this plus the bag made this month totally worth it for me.

NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel
I received the shade Apple Strudel which wears as a very natural looking pink on me. Which surprised me since I haven't been able to find a light pink shade that worked with my skin tone. This is great; the shade, the formula, I love the way it smells. And now I need to get more! :)

Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara
Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara:
Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara
If you've seen other Ipsy June reviews, or have been on the Ipsy site on this product's page, you probably noticed some similar reviews. Mine won't be any different. Sadly, this is probably the worse product I have ever received. In all honesty, I've never been super impressed with this brand, but when I get something of theirs I try to be open minded and give it a shot. Now, we're obviously in the warmer months (Hello, Summer! :)) and that could've had an impact on this, who knows. But when I opened it, there was this overwhelming chemical smell that came pouring out of the tube. If I hadn't known better, I would have assumed this was a cleverly packaged tear gas grenade from one of Charlie's Angels! Really, it was that bad. So I quickly closed it and left it alone for a couple of days. The smell didn't really improve but I thought maybe it was because of the heat, and I would try it on and quickly take it off. When applying this mascara, it was drying out mid application. I hadn't even finished one coat on one eye and it was already dry on the wand! Even if the smell wasn't an issue, the formula was awful. So, in the trash it went.

NickaK New York Shimmer Eyeliner in Green
NickaK New York Shimmer Eyeliner in Green:  I typically don't wear glitter liner, but I liked the color and this stuff does not budge! After I did the swatch on the back of my hand, I had to bust out some eye makeup remover and coconut oil to get MOST of it off, leaving behind a faint "stain" on my hand. Luckily it didn't do that on my eyelids, but it did stay put. I think the packaging is cute but I don't really like the wand. It's more of a stiff plastic tip, which is good and bad, it keeps the line exactly, however, unlike a felt tip, it's not as forgiving with different angles. I've only applied it to my upper lashline but I think it would look pretty on the lower lashline.

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray:
We all know I love me some sea salt spray so I'm glad I got this! It smells really good. Kind of like a sun tan lotion. It reminds me of something else but I can't put my finger on it... On dry hair it doesn't really add/enhance waves, but adds more of a piece-y look. Any natural waves that were already there were more defined but didn't become wavier. I still need to try it on wet hair, but so far, I like.

Skinn Olive and Enzyme Cleanser

Skinn Olive and Enzyme Cleanser:
This product sounded interesting to me because it's a balm/makeup remover/deep cleansing mask. It is really rich and does a decent job at removing makeup. If I go over my eyes twice with it, it removed about 90% of my Rocket waterproof mascara. This cleanser is really rich and smells yummy! It has oranges in it, but to me it smells more like a lemon pound cake. Or for those of you who received the Be Delectable hand cream in the scent Lemon and Cream, from a past ipsy bag, that's what this cleanser smells like. And before I had mentioned that my skin was oily/combo skin, but lately its been on the dry/sensitive side, and even with it being dry, this cleanser is a little too rich for daily use.

Overall I enjoyed my bag, the only thing I really didn't like was the mascara. Although I've read from several other subscribers that if you contact ipsy regarding your mascara, they might send a replacement item. So if you also received a stinky mascara and you want to try getting a replacement, it's worth a shot contacting them. I just submitted feedback on that item in my glam room and hopefully I don't get too many products like that in the future.
