My First Glossybox!

I've been wanting to try Glossybox for awhile now, but after seeing some of the "sneak peaks", I never really wanted to commit. But their June Glossybox had me at Tarte and Oscar de la Renta! Plus a Model Co. promo code I found!

Glossybox, for those who aren't familiar, is $21 a month and you'll receive 5-6 "luxury sized samples". What I liked about them were A) the boxes, they're so freakin cute and I love me some good packaging! and B) I liked a lot of the brands. So when I saw that Tarte was going to be in this box and Oscar de le Renta, I figured why not.

The first item, upon unboxing, is the Glossybox Mag. This is actually kinda nifty, because it goes more in depth about the products, incorporates them in the photo shoot, etc. When it came time to cover the fragrance samples, this magazine talks about each one of them - notes, inspiration for the name/fragrance, etc.
The product info card

And now for the good stuff!
This is basically what the inside of my box looked like when  I first opened it...
However, I received this box on July 5th, and it is now the 9th...so yes,  the products that look like they've been used, have..by me :D. haha
But when you get your box, the products won't look like this, they'll be nicely sealed, unopened, and full!

Solitude Creme - 80374
.5 fl oz
Lets start with the nail polish. I've never used SPARITUAL before, but I swatched it on a couple of nails and I like the formula. The color is pretty too, but personally, this is more of a Fall color for me. In the Spring/Summer, I like to go for the bright colors, so this little guy is gonna have to wait. ;)

c.Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist - about $4Philip B. Light-Weight Deep Conditioning Creme Rinse
2 fl oz

I was very excited about getting the c.Booth Nourishing Dry Oil Mist! After using the dry oil I received from Julep, I've been obsessed! The c.Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist is free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, and petrolatum and is marketed as simple and natural. To use it, just mist over skin (whenever) to get a "glow-inducing boost". This product is awesome. To me it smells a little fruity and clean, but not overwhelming. And it really does leave your skin with a nice glow. I've been using this stuff everyday, sometimes twice a day, and as you can tell from the picture, there's still a good amount left!
I also received the Philip B. Light-Weight Deep Conditioning Creme Rinse. In all honesty, I'm not a fan of getting stuff like this in my monthly boxes. Sprays and masks, sure! Shampoos and Conditioners, not so much. Unfortunately, this product has been my least favorite. It suggested to either use a "small amount" to leave in your hair for 2-3 minutes, or use a "small amount", wrap hair in a towel, and leave for 20 minutes, and rinse - for a deeper conditioning. Frankly, I didn't feel like going through all the trouble of wrapping my hair in a towel and leaving this on for 20 minutes. So I started off applying a "small amount", but couldn't even feel it in my hair! It's like my hair laughed at it and said "nice try!". So I continued to add more "small amounts" and well...you can see by the picture that my "small amount" = half the bottle! The ending result? Not a damn thing! I was expecting to have at least softer hair or something. But nope, my regular condition does a better job than this stuff. Oh well, it was worth a shot. Has anyone else had great results from using this? I'd love to hear from you and get suggestions before I use up the remainder haha.

Tarte Complexion Brightening Lipstick - Medium - to - Tan  $14.50
.12 oz
Ahhh! The product I was waiting for - Tarte Complexion Brightening Lipstick! And yes, as soon I as received this box, I ripped this puppy open and applied it! haha. I got the shade Medium - to - Tan and this lipstick is supposed to give you the perfect nude shade based on your complexion. And I actually really like the way it looks on me and the fact that it is a "no brainer" lipstick. Throw it on and you're good to go. It feels very moisturizing, and slick and glossy on the lips. Not sticky at all! However, it doesn't last very long at all. And I know a lot of people complain about the cardboard packing, but I don't have a problem with it. If I'm taking it with me, it's going in a makeup pouch in my bag. So I'm not worried about it "holding up" while its in my handbag.

Oscar de la Renta Essential Luxuries Perfume Samples.
The other sample I was excited for - Oscar de la Renta Perfume Samples. What I loved about this sample is 1. the pouch is cute with it's decorative charm drawstrings, and 2. your get samples for all 6 of his perfumes! It's not like some boxes that try to match perfume samples based off of style quizzes or anything like that. And each sample is actually full, so you can fully test out each scent! The scents include:
Granada
Mi Corazon
Santo Domingo
Oriental Lace
Coralina
Sargasso

Here are the descriptions from the Glossybox Mag:

Granada - "A romantic citrus floral accord with a radiant feminine air inspired by the memory of the majestic Alhambra patios. The sweet scent of jasmine petals and bitter orange enlightened by exotic roses reflects off a fresh stream of water , leaving a lingering impression."

Mi Corazon - "An unmistakable, white floral bouquet intrinsically associated with Mr. de la Renta's devotion to family and his passion for gardening embodied in a lush, creamy accord of tuberose and ylang-ylang that mingle with peach for a warm tropical twist and an intoxicating trail."

Santo Domingo - "A smooth, smoky tabac fragrance inspired by the tropical setting of Oscar de la Renta's birthplace, Santo Domingo. Fresh, citrusy notes of mandarin and coriander embrace the rich warmth of tobacco, patchouli and species in the luscious scent."

Oriental Lace - "A darling, dark oriental laced with gourmand nuances that embody the opulent textures in Oscar de la Renta's celebrated runway collections. The fragrance unfolds to a warm, inviting blend of the unique hoya carnosa flower with hints of honey and bitter almond surrounded by dark cacao and patchouli for a mysterious, delectable treat."

Coralina - "A timeless, classic floral bouquet as elegant as the woman who inspire Mr. de la Renta's luxurious designs: ladylike, refined, and rare. The scent is an unforgettable blend of mimosa, violet and orris, softened with luxurious woody green notes. "

Sargasso - "A crisp, green, invigorating accord is the essence of "sea spray" in a splashy Eau de Cologne. Fresh citrus notes, watery cucumber and unexpected revitalizing greenness combine with warm sunshine and the patchouli for a lasting serene finish."

So far, I've only tried two out of the 6, Sargasso and Oriental Lace. I put of Oriental Lace after applying the Honey Almond dry oil mist and the two complimented each other well. It does give a sweet smell, but it's more of a sophisticated sweet smell...it doesn't leave you smelling like a candy bar. Sargasso is a very clean smell and I could definitely smell the citrus and cucumber. I'm excited to try more of the scents.

BONUS ITEM:

I found a promo code for this Model Co. Lip and Cheek tint. I've never used any of the Model Co. products but I like the idea of tints since they're dual purpose. I got the shade Rosy Red and it does give a rosy tint. But like any rosy colors, you have to start applying a little and build up, to avoid the clown look! haha But it gives a nice glow to the face and looks natural.

I enjoyed my first Glossybox and it looks like I may be getting their July box too. I'm not sure I'll keep a subscription going with them because I think $21 is a bit steep for a subscription service.
