Julep Maven May 2013 Box and FREE BOX!

When I got the email for the May Maven boxes, I was pretty excited. The theme and packaging was adorable! And that alone suckered me in. I had been skipping lately just because I've been saving $$ for school and in all honestly, I have more nail polish than I can use! But the May box is inspired by the 20s and since I've been wanting more lipsticks lately, I figured why not. PLUS! I found a discount code that can get you new mavens your first box FREE!*
My julep maven style profile is Boho Glam so my box contained two colors - Millie - vintage indigo creme, and Alice - antique lilac shimmer, and the New York Lipstick Trio. To see the entire May collection on the Julep Blog with swatches, click HERE

The wrapping paper inside the box was adorable, unfortunately I didn't capture it in this picture (sorry). The box also included a set of cute flower bobby pins. :)

The NY Lip trio! L-R (and top to bottom) Tea for Two, a sheer nude shimmer; Satin Doll, a sheer poppy; Lady in Red a matte crimson.

These tiny lipsticks (not much taller than my pinky finger) are great for carrying in your purse or maybe even your wallet! In MAC foundation I'm usually in the NC15-30 range depending on how much I tan during the summer, and right now I think I'm in NC25, even though I look much lighter in the picture. Tea for two is a very light pink on me and I can apply it generously and not worry about it being too much. I LOVE Satin Doll, it's a great everyday shade and I can see myself keeping this in my purse and apply it on the go. Lady in Red...this little guy is intense! Super opaque and a great red color. I was pleasantly surprised with this one but it does have a strong "makeup" smell.  As for the polish, I think Millie is a pretty color and not like anything I currently have. Alice is pretty but in the bottle it reminds me a lot of Renee minus the shimmer. All in all, not bad and I'm pretty happy with it.

Not a maven and want to get in on all the fun!? Why not try it for free! New Mavens can click below and enter the promo code: FREEBOX. The only catch is that I think you have to pay for Shipping and Handling, which is like $3. But hey, $3 is still a pretty good deal if you ask me. And if you don't like the program, you can always cancel when the Maven Selection Window opens. :)
